"And the Spirit immediately drove him out into the wilderness. He was in the wilderness for forty days, tempted by Satan; and he was with the wild beasts; and the angels waited on him."
(Mark 1:12-13)
Lent is a time of self-examination, penitence, self-denial, study, and preparation for Easter. Candidates for baptism, first communion and confirmation are instructed in Christian faith in preparation for initiation during the Easter season.
Wednesday, 5th March
8pm - Ash Wednesday Service
Ashes are an ancient sign of penitence; from the middle ages it became the custom to begin Lent by being marked in ash with the sign of the cross.
Sunday, 30th March
9:30am - Mothering Sunday Service
A mother’s love is so special it’s worth celebrating. Our Mothers’ Day, or Mothering Sunday, service is really special and during the service children give flowers to their mothers, or to those who have played a mother's role in their life.
6pm - Evening Prayer
Some people may find Mothers' Day difficult for lots of different reasons. Some people may not have a mother who they see any more. She may have died, or they just never knew her. Some parents find Mothers' Day sad because they have lost a child and still grieve. As well as celebrating the love of mothers, we always remember that Mothers' Day can be difficult as well, and during our evening prayer service we will be saying prayers during the service.
We can even offer pastoral care and personal prayer at this time, if that is something you would like.
