Allhallowtide

One family, we dwell in him,
one Church, above, beneath;
though now divided by the stream,
the narrow stream of death.

(Charles Wesley)

Thursday, 31st October, All Hallows Eve (Halloween)

4pm - Vigil of All Hallows Eve (and party)

Join us for our vigil service which (weather permitting) will be held in the Churchyard. We will have a blessing of the light, prayers, and the bible story of the Witch of Endor told in a dramatic style by candlelight.

After the vigil there will be a party with apple bobbing and our annual pumpkin competition. If you think your pumpkin carving skills are a 'cut above the rest' bring your pumpkin to the service and enter it in! Prizes awarded for different age groups, including adults.

Fancy dress is pretty compulsory for this service (no fake blood or weapons though). Angel costumes are encouraged as it saves on getting a different costume for Christmas!

Friday, 1st November

6pm - Prayers for the persecuted Church

The International Day of Prayer for the Persecuted Church (often abbreviated as IDOP) is an observance within the Christian calendar in which congregations pray for Christians who are persecuted for their faith. It falls on the first Sunday of November, within the liturgical period of Allhallowtide, which is dedicated to remembering the martyrs and saints of Christianity.

Evening prayer with readings from the bible. This service lasts approximately half an hour.

Eternal Father, almighty shepherd of your people,
We pray for your children around the world who are suffering for their allegiance to you.
Be their shield and defence, their refuge and their stronghold.
Shelter them under the shadow of your wings.
Amen

Saturday, 2nd November, All Souls Day

6:00pm - Commemoration of the Faithful Departed

We all experience the busyness of day to day life that often leaves little time for reflection and remembrance. Even after a loss, life does, amazingly, continue. In the service we remember before God all those who we have loved and lost. Different from a day of mourning, our remembrance calls to mind the hope of the resurrection, both theirs and ours, and gives thanks for their faithful testimony.
Come to the service and take time to remember a lost loved one.

Evening prayer with readings from the bible, as well as an act of remembrance in which names of the dearly departed are read and candles light. This service lasts approximately an hour.

Sunday, 3rd November, All Saints Day

8am

This is a traditional service with readings from the bible, a sermon and communion (you are unable to sign school attendance registers at this service). This service lasts approximately half an hour.

9:30am

The main Sunday Service for all the Church Family. This is a traditional service with hymns, readings from the Bible, a sermon and communion. There is usually an Organist, Choir, and Serving Team present for this service. This service lasts approximately one hour. Refreshments are served afterwards.

We run a Children's Church at this service during term time. Sometimes this is providing colouring in at the back of church, othertimes its providing a more structured activity in the annexe.

You can also watch this service online via our YouTube channel (link is to the top right of the webpage).
