The Bible

All scripture is inspired by God and is useful for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, so that the person of God may be proficient, equipped for every good work.

(2 Timothy 3:16-17)

The Bible, in both the OId and the New Testaments, is the record of God’s revelation of himself to mankind through his people Israel, and above all in his Son, Jesus Christ. The Old Testament is not contrary to the New.

We believe the Holy Bible is the primary source of faith and practice. We also highly value the teachings and practices of the early Church Fathers and the historical continuity of the Church. We also believe that we are to use human reason, guided by the Holy Spirity, to interpret and understand scripture and tradition.

The Bible was given to us by the Holy Spirit who first inspired and guided the writers, and then led the Church to accept their writings as Holy Scripture. It contains all things necessary to salvation so that anything we cannot read from scripture, or be proved by scripture, is not required of us as Christians.

We should read the Bible with the desire and prayer that through it God will speak to us by his Holy Spirit, and enable us to know him and do his will.

The Bible shouldn't be a weapon, rather it is a God-breathed (inspired by God and a result of the inspiration of God) tool used for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness.
