"I will go to the altar of God, to God my exceeding joy."
(Psalm 43:4)
Altar Guild
We love all our altar servers. They are a volunteer group whose ministry is to serve at the altar and assist the priest. They give a gift of time and talent to serve God in His house.
Serving as an Acolyte is more than just lighting candles—it’s about leadership, faith, and teamwork. Here’s what you gain:
- Confidence & Responsibility – Take an active role in church services and grow in leadership.
- Faith in Action – Learn the meaning behind sacred traditions and deepen your connection to God.
- Teamwork & Service – Work alongside clergy and peers, building friendships that last.
- Skills for Life – Public speaking, discipline, and a heart for service—all qualities that shape strong leaders.
There is a training program that has been developed which takes our altar guild members from apprentice through to junior and then a senior qualification, whatever their age:
The altar guild always welcomes new members as apprentices. Altar Guild members should be congregants who are baptised and ideally confirmed, and also be older than 8 years of age. Not baptised? not a problem though!
We run training and fellowship sessions throughout the year.
